U Aung Kyaw Oo joined Myanmar Metropolitan College (MMC) in October 2013 as a part-time lecturer after returning from overseas, where he gained over two decades of work experience.
After completing a B.Sc. (Mathematics) at Rangoon University (currently known as Yangon University) and a Certificate in Computing at Universities’ Computer Center (currently known as University of Computer Studies, Yangon), he worked for a number of multinational corporations in Southeast Asia. He gained experience in various industries such as Information Technology, Business Consulting, Petrochemical, and Higher Educational Institutions. After having gained experience with international firms for a few years, he continued his further studies with an MBA-degree from Assumption University, Thailand, and M.Sc. in Technology Management from CEU Business School, Central European University, Hungary.
In addition to his professional industry practice – including as a consultant at the US-based Accenture Consulting and Caltex Petroleum groups, U Aung Kyaw Oo has also worked with numerous western educational programs. This includes work as a senior lecturer with Sunderland University (UK) and Towson University (USA), at Da Nang University of Economics, Vietnam; Head of the Department (Information Systems), Coventry University (UK) and Head of the Department (Management Studies), Troy University (USA) at St. Theresa INTI College, Thailand. He has taught various business and technology management subjects in Diploma, BBA, and MBA courses.
One of the reasons for his return to Myanmar is to contribute his knowledge to the next generation of his motherland. His primary interest is bringing his industrial experience and knowledge into classrooms and sharing them with his students. He believes that quality education will play a vital role in preparing our students’ future.
